DESIGN CONCEPT:
These homes were designed to fit into the Greenville’s Heritage Historic Neighborhood, where Southern Bungalow, Cottage, Vernacular Mill House styles and other early 20th-century residential styles are prevalent and intermingle.
Designed for an infill lot right next to each other, we wanted to give both homes character and unique features, while making sure they worked together as a pair. The design draws inspiration most directly from the Souther Bungalow tradition, featuring a prominent front porch, low eave overhangs, and balanced massing. The simplified detailing, clean trim profiled, and restrained material palette allow it to read as a contemporary interpretation while preserving the scale, rhythm, and welcoming character that define historic Southern Bungalow and cottage architecture in this district.
